What you need to know about Harps
1.)
You should have an idea of what type of music you want to play with
your harp. We don’t offer full concert harps, but many smaller sizes.
Decide on the type of harp you prefer and how many strings you will
need.
2.)
Choose the harp that fits your needs, and many of them have various
design and wood options. These don’t affect how the harp plays, they
are visual options. Many of the smaller harps are “lap harps” meant for
cultural music, but they can be used to play any type of music.
3.)
Harps are delicate, and may require extra care during shipment. Make
sure to inspect the harp when it arrives to make sure that it didn’t get
damaged. When tuning your harp, do not over tighten the strings; they
will break. Extra string sets are available should you need them, but
they are only sold as sets.
4.)
Our harps come with tuning tools so that you can keep your harp in
tune. Most do not come with a case, so if you plan on traveling with
your harp, you might want to buy one. String sets are fairly universal.
If a string set does not come match your exact harp, you can use
another set with the right number of strings. Some of the larger harps
have sharpening levers that will allow you to raise the pitch of a
string temporarily.
5.) We have many types and styles of harps available, so you’re sure to find the harp you’re looking for.
