We purchased this viola after searching for reviews and couldn't find any. My daughter is in Jr. High and decided to play the viola. She took this to her orchestra teacher who also owns a music store. He said it is a good viola but the strings were not quality and should be replaced to get a better sound. We replaced all four strings at a cost of $90.00. This increased our cost of the viola to about $270.00. The case is nice and the bow seems to be quality. It comes with rosin, but, it is not the best either. We went back and forth about which type viola to buy and I'm glad we settled on the Cremona. If you really want a viola that sounds correct, replace the strings that come with this and expect to pay more and adjust your search accordingly. I don't know if a more expensive viola would come with better strings, this is certainly a question to ask before buying. Overall, I am happy with the quality, but, I wish I had known about the strings.
